- Kakamega Homeboyz FC will battle NSL side Nairobi United FC in the Mozzart Bet quarter finals on Thursday 1st May at Dandora Stadium, Nairobi.
- FKFPL Champions Gor Mahia FC will also be facing Kariobangi Sharks FC at the same venue.
- In another fixture, Murang’a Seal FC will be hosting Ulinzi Stars FC at St Sebastian Park in Murang’a.
The 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup winners, Kakamega Homeboyz FC are set to enter into the semis through a tough battle against National Super League side Nairobi United.
Nairobi United FC remains to be the only non top flight team left in the competition.In another fixture,FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia FC will be continuing their pursuit of a domestic double when they will be facing Kariobangi Sharks FC at Dandora Stadium on Thursday at 4pm.
Another quarter final clash will take place at the St Sebastian Park in Murang’a,where hosts Murang’a Seal will battle Ulinzi Stars FC.
The winner of the Mozzart Bet Cup will earn 2 million shillings and secure a spot in the next seasons CAF Confederation Cup.Defending champions Kenya Police FC are yet to learn their Quarter Finals opponents.
The delay comes from the undecided appeal by AFC Leopards regarding their abandoned round of 32 clash against Mara Sugar FC.The Winner of the appeal will face Webuye based Compel FC in the round of 16 , with the victor of that tie earning a spot against Kenya Police FC.
Gor Mahia FC are the favourites heading to the quarterfinals, having beaten Kariobangi Sharks in their last six consecutive meetings.
“For us every game is important.This is a Cup Quarter Final,and since we are eyeing a double,we have to give our all, qualify for the same finals and also lift the trophy, “narrated Gor Mahia coach Sinisa Mihic.
Kakamega Homeboyz FC,coached by Francis Baraza,are also chasing a return to continental football.
“This is a competition we are taking very seriously ,and we are not underrating our opponents because they have beaten top flight sides before.We are ready for the game.” Francis Baraza told Kenyan Trend on Sunday after recording a barren draw against Sofapaka in a league match held at Mumias Sports Complex.
Nairobi United FC,led by former “Abana Beingo” tactician Nicholas Muyoti,have proven giant killers in the competition.They eliminated FKFPL Champions Tusker FC and KCB in the round of 32 and 16 respectively, winning both on Penalties after goalless draws.
“We want to write a history by lifting this cup.That is why we have engaged in intense preparations.We shall be happy if we win against top side since we also want to participate in the continental football.” Said Muyoti.
