In a press statement issued on Sunday, April 6, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, through his Press Director, addressed the circulating rumors that suggested he was planning to join a new political party. Mudavadi swiftly dismissed these claims, stating that he remains firmly embedded within the Kenya Kwanza government led by President William Ruto.
“For the record, Dr. Mudavadi is fully aligned with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance Administration under the leadership of H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya,” the statement read.
Standing by His Political Integrity
Mudavadi took the opportunity to defend his political integrity, emphasizing that throughout his career, he has maintained principles of honesty, transparency, and dignity. He pointed out that these qualities have defined his approach to politics and leadership.
“Before I joined the government, I was the leader of the Amani National Congress (ANC), which later merged with President Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and other parties to form the Kenya Kwanza Alliance in preparation for the 2022 general elections,” Mudavadi explained. He further reminded the public of the merger between ANC and UDA in January 2025, solidifying his role within the coalition.
Mudavadi’s Commitment Remains Unshaken
Mudavadi also expressed that the decision to merge ANC with UDA was a voluntary and well-supported move by the party members. He stressed his belief in the importance of unity and political cohesion, which guided this decision.
In response to recent reports of dissatisfaction from some former ANC members who are allegedly backing a new political party, the Umoja Summit Party (USP), Mudavadi reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Kenya and clarified that he has no intention of joining any new political group. He emphasized that his focus remains on fulfilling his duties within the current administration.
