Mary Biketi has come out strongly to challenge the public narrative that her relationship with Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya is driven by financial gain. In a candid radio interview, the entrepreneur made it clear that she’s more than capable of standing on her own feet.
“People think I’m entirely dependent on waziri. That’s far from the truth. I have my own hustle. I pay rent, settle my bills, and handle my business,” she said.
While she did admit that the former Kakamega governor supported her financially when starting her business, Biketi emphasized that she’s now an active contributor in their partnership — both emotionally and economically.
Fate Took Over at the Airport
Recalling the early moments of their relationship, Biketi said their first interaction was purely accidental — and unforgettable.
“We met at Wilson Airport,” she said. “I was heading to Kisumu. Coincidentally, we were on the same flight.”
She described the meeting as one of those moments where everything just fell into place.
“He walked in, and I instantly noticed him. Later, he ended up seated close to me. That was the beginning. Since then, we’ve just connected,” she said with a smile.
