Gachagua Spills the Beans: Ruto Tried to Bribe His Way to My Impeachment

  • Gachagua claims Ruto funded a plot to remove him from office.
  • MPs allegedly received Sh500K each; senators got Sh10M.
  • Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse reportedly used to table the motion.
  • Mutuse was promised a top parliamentary role but was later duped.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made explosive claims about a failed political coup to impeach him, directly linking President William Ruto to the plan. Speaking during a candid media interview, Gachagua alleged that the Head of State bankrolled the entire scheme, using taxpayers’ money to win over legislators.

Cash Handouts to Buy Loyalty

According to Gachagua, Members of Parliament were allegedly given Sh500,000 each while Senators received Sh10 million to support the impeachment motion. He claimed the funds were part of a calculated move by Ruto to silence dissent and force him out of office.

“He is the one who crafted the impeachment and bribed MPs with Sh500,000 and the Senators with Sh10 million,” Gachagua stated.

Mutuse Used, Then Dumped?

Gachagua also named Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse as the legislator used to table the motion, saying he too was promised political rewards for playing along. Specifically, Mutuse was allegedly told he’d become the Budget and Appropriations Committee Chair—a powerful role in Parliament—but was later shortchanged after doing the job.

“He also bribed the mover of the motion, Mwengi Mutuse, who was promised the Budget Committee chairmanship,” he added.

Power Games or Political Witch Hunt?

These revelations have opened up fresh debate on internal divisions within the ruling coalition and the growing rift between Ruto and his former deputy. If true, they point to a high-stakes power struggle masked as parliamentary procedure.
