Kenya Airways has confirmed a tragic incident involving an elderly passenger who died aboard flight KQ 003. The flight was on its regular route from New York to Nairobi on Friday, April 11, when the medical emergency occurred.
Crew Responds to In-Flight Collapse
At around 8:40 AM Nairobi time, the airline’s crew contacted their Operations Control Centre. A passenger had collapsed unexpectedly mid-flight. According to KQ, three medical professionals onboard quickly stepped in to assist.
Using available medical tools, the team tried to stabilize the patient. The captain then made the decision to reroute the plane to Entebbe International Airport to seek urgent help on the ground.
Life-Saving Efforts Fall Short
Despite continuous efforts, the passenger was declared dead at 9:10 AM, before the flight could land. Kenya Airways noted that the crew and the onboard medics followed all international medical protocols.
Flight Continues After Tragic Loss
Following the sad confirmation, the flight proceeded to Nairobi. It touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at exactly 10:27 AM.
