The gathering reminded every woman of the deep strength they carry and the doors that are yet to open before them.
More than just a support initiative, the program focuses on economic empowerment, building strong social networks, and standing up for the rights and dignity widows deserve.
Healthcare Boost for Widows and Women in Kisumu
Extending the spirit of empowerment, a medical outreach was organized through a partnership between the Widows Empowerment Program, Jiwo Mwanadada Foundation, and Abala Healthcare.
Held in Kisumu East, Kisumu County, the camp provided medical check-ups and treatments to widows and other women who attended.
Each participant was also enrolled into the Social Health Authority (SHA), a crucial program introduced to widen access to affordable healthcare across the country.
Social Health Authority: A Cornerstone of Healthcare Reform
The SHA initiative stands as one of the key pillars in Kenya’s healthcare reforms.
Its goal is to ensure that every Kenyan, regardless of background, can access quality and affordable medical services—marking a major step toward universal health coverage.
