Former Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Susan Nakhumicha has opened up about life after her dismissal from President William Ruto’s Cabinet in 2024, revealing that she has since ventured into farming. Speaking at the funeral of former IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati in Trans Nzoia, she disclosed that she now relies on cabbage farming for a livelihood.

Nakhumicha recounted how she first learned of her sacking through television, noting that the entire Cabinet was dismissed at once. She acknowledged that many Kenyans celebrated the announcement, a reaction she attributed to the influence of Gen Z-led protests that demanded accountability in the health sector.

Following her abrupt exit from government, she turned to agriculture, stating that she had not secured any formal employment since leaving office. She now grows and sells cabbages in Cherangany and urged people to pray for her as she navigates this new chapter.

Despite her current focus on farming, Nakhumicha hinted at a political comeback in the 2027 General Election, emphasizing that no political seat is permanently reserved for anyone. Her remarks have sparked mixed reactions, with some Kenyans praising her resilience while others view her transition as a reflection of the uncertainties of government service.
