The officer, who later reported the incident at Muthangari Police Station, claims he was attacked by three unidentified men while heading home on Sunday, March 23.
Officer’s Account of the Incident
According to a police report, the officer had just alighted from a motorcycle when he was confronted. He alleges that one of the men attempted to wrestle away his Ceska pistol, leading to a struggle.
“He reports that while walking home, he was confronted by three unknown individuals. One of them managed to snatch his Ceska pistol, but he grabbed it by the muzzle and successfully regained control,” part of the report stated.
Shots Fired and Escape to the Station
With the situation escalating, the officer fired multiple warning shots into the air to disperse the attackers before making his way to the police station.
“One of the men blocked his path, prompting him to fire in the air to scare them off. He then ran to Muthangari Police Station, reporting that he had sustained a fracture on his left hand and an injury on his left shoulder,” the report added.
Investigations are underway to establish the full details of the incident, as authorities seek to determine what exactly transpired and whether the use of force was justified.
