Sarah Mtalii, the Managing Director of Bonfire Adventures, has finally spoken about the difficulties she faced in her marriage to Simon Kabu and why it took her so long to walk away.
Speaking in an interview with TV47, Sarah admitted that her public image as a role model for young couples made it hard for her to leave, despite facing serious challenges. She had convinced herself that she had to maintain the illusion of a perfect marriage for the sake of others.
“I thought marriage was automatic, that the next family I joined would be just like my own. I jumped in with both feet, but when things started falling apart, I felt trapped. I had already become a role model to young couples, so I played along—even when it wasn’t working—just to avoid disappointing people.”
However, she eventually realized that staying in a failing marriage just to inspire others was a mistake.
“I asked myself, why am I trying so hard to be a role model when it could cost me my life? Everyone should look to their own mother for inspiration. I refused to live a double life just to please people.”
Her decision to prioritize her well-being over societal expectations marks a turning point in her journey, showing that even public figures must choose self-preservation over public perception.
