Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has officially inaugurated a new four-lane flyover designed to decongest traffic and enhance connectivity between the Central Business District and major routes, including Jinja Road, Entebbe Road, and Nsambya Road.
Speaking during the launch on Wednesday, Museveni emphasized the importance of discipline among citizens, particularly in waste management, to prevent clogged drainage systems and urban flooding.
Call for Cleanliness and Responsible Waste Disposal
“Littering begins at home. People dispose of polythene bags, plastic bottles, and other waste carelessly, which leads to major problems. Waste should be sorted at home, and plastics must be recycled to prevent environmental damage,” Museveni advised.
Japan’s Contribution to the Project
The flyover, a significant milestone in Uganda’s infrastructure development, was funded by Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
