Former Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici has called on President William Ruto to ensure the completion of key projects in Central Kenya that were initiated under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony at Thiba grounds in Mwea East, Ngirici stressed the urgent need for improved infrastructure, particularly roads, to boost the agricultural sector in Kirinyaga.
“We are not making requests—we are demanding that President Ruto sees to it that the projects started by Uhuru are completed. Kirinyaga is an agricultural powerhouse, and our farmers need good roads to transport their produce,” she asserted.
Ngirici Declares Independent Run for Kirinyaga Governor
Ngirici also used the platform to officially announce her 2027 gubernatorial bid, revealing that she would run as an independent candidate.
She accused the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) of betrayal, claiming that despite her instrumental role in popularizing the party in Mount Kenya ahead of the 2022 elections, she was sidelined by Ruto’s administration.
“I made UDA strong in Kirinyaga, recruited members, and built the party’s presence, but what did I get in return? Betrayal. I won’t make the same mistake again—I will vie as an independent in 2027,” she declared.
With this bold stance, Ngirici has reignited the political conversation in Kirinyaga, setting the stage for a heated 2027 gubernatorial contest.
