- Terrorists strike at 5 AM, leaving six dead and four wounded
- Attackers flee with weapons, suffering casualties in the assault
- Security forces deployed to track down the militants
A terror attack in Biyamadhow, near the Kenya-Somalia border, left six people dead and four others injured in the early hours of Sunday, March 23.
Brutal Assault and Escape
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the assailants shot and stabbed their victims before escaping with stolen weapons. However, they also suffered casualties during the assault.
The Biyamadhow region, known for its porous border, has frequently been targeted by militants taking advantage of security loopholes. Reports indicate that the terrorists are also planning further kidnappings of Kenyan citizens.
Security Response
NPS spokesman Michael Muchiri confirmed that a multi-agency team has been deployed to pursue the attackers and reinforce security in the area.
“More personnel have been sent to confront the enemy. This is an unfortunate incident,” said Muchiri.
The bodies of those killed were taken to a local mortuary, while the injured were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Motive Behind the Attack
Security officials believe the attack was a revenge mission after one of the militants was arrested by Kenyan authorities for terror-related offenses.
Authorities remain on high alert as efforts continue to track down the armed group and prevent further attacks.
