Labour Principal Secretary Shadrack Mwadime has encouraged young Kenyans to take advantage of a new government-backed financial program designed to ease the cost of securing jobs abroad.
Speaking at Taita Taveta National Polytechnic today, Mwadime revealed that the initiative, in partnership with KCB Bank Voi, will offer loans at a single-digit interest rate. Youth heading to Gulf nations can access up to KSh 300,000, while those traveling to Europe qualify for loans of up to KSh 650,000.
Additionally, the Youth Fund will provide an extra KSh 185,000, which beneficiaries must repay within six months.
“The government is committed to empowering our youth by providing financial support for employment opportunities abroad,” Mwadime stated.
The PS emphasized the need for job seekers, particularly those eyeing delivery jobs in Dubai, to acquire a valid motorcycle license.
Recruitment, which involves document processing and interviews, will run until Monday. The available positions include construction, security, and delivery services.
Over 100 young people attended the event, keen on processing their applications and securing employment opportunities abroad.
With rising youth unemployment, the government hopes this initiative will provide a significant boost, ensuring a smoother process for Kenyans seeking international job placements.
