Fan’s Nightmare: Car Stolen Outside Nyayo Stadium During Kenya vs Gabon Clash

What was meant to be an exciting football evening turned into a nightmare for a fan who attended the Kenya vs Gabon World Cup qualifier at Nyayo Stadium. After parking his silver Toyota IST along Kisauni Road near Nairobi West Hospital at around 3:40 pm, he headed into the stadium to cheer for the national team.

However, when he returned minutes after 7 pm, his car was nowhere to be found. Realizing what had happened, he rushed to report the theft at Akila Police Station in Lang’ata.

DCI on the Hunt for Stolen Vehicle

According to a police report dated Monday, March 24, the victim provided proof of ownership, and the vehicle-registered as KBN 093B-has now been circulated as stolen. Detectives from DCI Lang’ata have launched investigations to track down the culprits and recover the car.

Rising Cases of Car Theft

Car theft continues to be a major concern in Kenya, with recent reports indicating a surge in such incidents. A report by the Association of Kenya Insurers revealed that 327 vehicles were stolen in 2024, with Toyota models being the most targeted at 54.91%, followed by Isuzu at 12.88%.

Authorities have urged vehicle owners to remain vigilant, especially when parking in unsecured areas, as criminals continue to target unsuspecting motorists.
