New Appointment at Kenya Pipeline
Martha Wanjiru Miano, former Director of Communications in ex-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s office, has landed a new job just days after her initial appointment to the Micro and Small Enterprise Authority Board was revoked.
A Gazette Notice issued on March 7, 2025, confirmed her appointment to the Board of Directors at the Kenya Pipeline Company Limited for a three-year term by Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi.
“In line with section 6 (1) (e) of the State Corporations Act, together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum appoints Martha Wanjiru Miano to the Board of Directors of Kenya Pipeline Company Limited for three years, effective from March 7, 2025.”
Her appointment resulted in the removal of Jane Njeri Mwangi from the position.
Miano Reacts to Her Appointment
Miano expressed joy and amazement at the new opportunity, saying she was lost for words.
“See, GOD! My role at the Small and Micro Enterprises Authority has been revoked, but now I have been appointed as a Director at Kenya Pipeline. I wish my mother was alive to witness this. I have no words, just gratitude.”
Past Dismissal from DP’s Office
Before this appointment, Miano worked in the Deputy President’s office but was fired on October 20, 2024, over claims of incompetence. She was dismissed alongside Francis Ngotho Maina, Gachagua’s former Personal Assistant.
She later shared that she first saw her termination letter on social media, rather than receiving it officially.
“It’s sad that I had to find out about my dismissal through social media. I have not received the letter to date, but that’s life.”
Despite this, she remains proud of her work.
“I leave with my head held high, without shame or regrets. I know I gave my best. My heart is at peace.”
She also thanked President William Ruto for the opportunity to serve in his administration.
Miano’s quick return to a government position shows her resilience despite past challenges.
