Kenyan lawmaker Peter Salasya found himself at the center of chaos on Sunday, March 23, after a confrontation broke out during the Harambee Stars’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Gabon at Nyayo Stadium.
Scuffle in the Stands
Videos making rounds online capture Salasya, clad in an AFC Leopards jersey, clashing with a section of fans inside the stadium. The altercation escalated, and at one point, a trash bin was hurled at him, striking his face as his security team struggled to shield him from the attacks.
Escorted Out Amid Chants
As tensions rose, police officers stepped in, swiftly escorting the Mumias East MP out of the stadium. Another clip shows him being hurried towards his car, surrounded by security personnel.
Meanwhile, sections of the crowd could be heard chanting:
“Heshimu Rais! Heshimu Raila!”
With emotions running high both on and off the pitch, tensions overshadowed what was supposed to be a thrilling World Cup qualifier showdown.
