- E-Sir died in a tragic road accident at just 21 years old
Decades after the tragic passing of Kenyan rap legend E-Sir, his brother Habib has opened up about their final conversation, revealing that the rapper seemed to have a premonition about his death.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Dr. King’ori on March 22, 2025, Habib described their last moments together before E-Sir embarked on his fateful trip to Nakuru.
“He told me, ‘You cannot come with me; just stay back and check on mom.’ When I asked him why, he dismissed me and told me not to insist,” Habib recalled.
At the time, Habib thought his older brother was just being protective. It never crossed his mind that those words held a far deeper meaning—one that would become painfully clear in the days to come.
Eerie Words That Now Make Sense
Habib also recounted another chilling moment from their final exchange. He had jokingly asked E-Sir to leave behind some of his new clothes so that he could wear them. The rapper’s response, however, was unsettling.
“He told me that one day, all his belongings would be mine,” Habib revealed.
Looking back, he now believes E-Sir had somehow prepared for his fate and knew what was coming.
The Moment He Heard the News
Habib was on a road trip with friends in Manga when he received the devastating news of his brother’s accident. The shock was overwhelming.
“I remember being told there had been an accident. I walked away and sat alone, asking myself so many questions. It felt unreal—like maybe he should have just found me at home with those clothes instead of leaving the way he did,” he recounted.
E-Sir’s Legacy Lives On
On March 16, 2003, the Kenyan music scene suffered one of its greatest losses when E-Sir died in a road accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway at just 21 years old.
His death sent shockwaves across the industry, leaving fans, fellow artists, and producers struggling to come to terms with the loss of a rapper who had redefined Kenyan hip-hop.
With hits like ‘Boomba Train,’ ‘Leo ni Leo,’ and ‘Hamunitishi’, E-Sir had already cemented his legendary status long before reaching his peak. Years later, his influence remains undeniable, with his music still dominating the airwaves.
Even in death, E-Sir’s legacy continues to inspire a new generation of Kenyan artists, proving that true legends never fade.
