  • The Embakasi East MP vows to remain outspoken despite pressure.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has accused certain government officials of plotting to use state agencies to intimidate him due to his criticism of President William Ruto’s administration.

In a video statement on Thursday, March 27, Owino claimed that unnamed officials met last week to strategize ways to put pressure on him. He revealed that detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) were allegedly preparing to raid his constituency offices in Donholm either this week or next.

“I have received credible information that EACC officers are set to visit our offices in Donholm this week. If not, then next week,” he said.

The MP believes the raid is part of a scheme to discredit him by linking him to fabricated corruption claims.

Defiant Against Pressure

Owino further disclosed that several individuals had approached him, urging him to tone down his criticism of the government. However, he maintained that he would not be silenced, emphasizing that his fight is for better governance.

“If Kenyans had jobs and the healthcare system was working, I would have no reason to oppose the government,” he insisted.

Babu Owino has been a persistent critic of the Ruto administration, frequently opposing its policies, including the controversial Social Health Authority (SHA) initiative. His latest allegations add to the ongoing political standoff between opposition leaders and government officials.
