The family of Elvis Munene Kaberia, a 19-year-old KCA University student and intern at City Hall, has confirmed his death after he went missing on January 29, 2025.
Elvis, who was attached to the Nairobi County government, left his family home on the morning of January 29 for work but never returned. His disappearance led to an intense search by both his family and authorities.
City Hall’s official attendance logbook shows that Elvis reported to work at 8:05 AM that morning. However, a police report contradicts this, claiming that his phone’s last signal was detected near the Mwalimu Co-Operative building on January 28, a day before his disappearance.
Elvis’ mother, Marion Karambu, disputes the claim that he went missing on January 28. She confirmed speaking to him on January 29 at 4:20 PM, when he requested transport money. She sent the funds shortly after their conversation, but by 8 PM, Elvis had not arrived home, prompting concern.
“He asked for transport money at around 4:20 PM, and I sent it. But when I tried reaching him later, his phone was off, and he never came home,” said Karambu.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. At this stage, the cause remains unknown, and further details will be provided as they emerge.
Elvis’ tragic demise has raised serious concerns about the security of interns and young professionals working within government offices. His family and friends continue to seek answers and justice for his untimely passing.
