A family dispute in Seregeya village, Likuyani constituency, Kakamega County, took a deadly turn on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, after a man fatally struck his brother with an axe during an argument over ugali.
Confirming the incident, village elder Cleophas Barasa said the two brothers, Michael Lukala and Reuben Lutabony, had been digging a borehole at a neighbor’s home when a fight broke out.
“It is tragic that such a minor disagreement escalated to this level. As a community, we must find peaceful ways to resolve conflicts,” Barasa stated.
Suspect in Custody
According to Peter Lukala, a brother to the deceased, the dispute erupted suddenly, leading to Reuben striking Michael on the head with an axe, killing him on the spot.
Police have launched investigations into the case, with the suspect currently in custody awaiting further legal action.
