Ikanga Ward MCA Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka is set to appear before the Kitui Law Courts on Friday over allegations of forging vehicle documents to defraud the County Assembly of Ksh.2.2 million.
According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Musyoka submitted fake motor vehicle purchase reimbursement documents in an attempt to secure payment.
“The investigations indicate MCA Musyoka presented documents with the intention of defrauding the Kitui County Assembly of a sum of Ksh.2.2 million that was meant for the MCA motor vehicle purchase reimbursement,” stated the ODPP.
The case was triggered by a complaint from Rose Kavithe Ngoima, leading to an investigation that recommended charges against the MCA.
Musyoka now faces five charges under the Penal Code, including:
- Conspiracy to commit a felony
- Obtaining vehicle registration through false pretenses
- Forging a valuation report
- Uttering false documents
- Making fraudulent claims as a public official
If found guilty, he could face serious legal consequences.
Previous Legal Troubles
This is not the first time Musyoka has found himself on the wrong side of the law.
A few months ago, he was nearly lynched by an angry mob in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) after allegedly attempting to steal mobile phones from a shop.
Reports indicate he had previously stolen a box containing six iPhone Pro 15 devices and returned to the shop for more, only to be caught.
Shop attendants raised an alarm, attracting nearby individuals who descended on the MCA with kicks and blows. He sustained severe injuries before police intervened.
With these new fraud allegations, Musyoka’s political career hangs in the balance as he prepares to take a plea in court on Friday.
