  • Accused of swindling Ksh. 10 million from young job seekers with fake Canada job offers.
  • Operated from Daima Plaza along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway.
  • Victims aged 25-30 paid between Ksh. 150,000 and Ksh. 350,000 for fake visa processing.
  • The case is scheduled for mention on March 3.

A businessman accused of conning job seekers out of over Ksh. 10 million under the false promise of securing them employment opportunities in Canada has been arrested.

Caesar Wagichuru Kingori was apprehended after skipping a scheduled court appearance before Senior Resident Magistrate Keyne Odhiambo. He had posted a Ksh. 100,000 cash bail three days prior but failed to show up in court, prompting the State Counsel to seek his immediate arrest.

The magistrate ordered his detention, citing his failure to answer 11 counts of obtaining money by pretense.

How the Fraud Was Carried Out

Kingori operated from Daima Plaza along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway, where he allegedly lured diploma and degree holders with promises of visa processing for overseas job placements.

His arrest followed a tip-off from victims, many of whom had been camping outside his office for two months in desperation. The victims, from counties such as Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, and Trans Nzoia, each paid between Ksh. 150,000 and Ksh. 350,000 for the fake opportunities.

Ongoing Investigations

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched an operation leading to Kingori’s arrest after gathering sufficient evidence from affected job seekers.

The court has set March 3 for the case mentioned, as authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the fraud.
