Muheria Calls Out ‘Govertisement’ Over Real Governance
Nyeri Catholic Archbishop Anthony Muheria has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto’s administration, accusing it of prioritizing public relations over actual governance.
In a strongly worded statement, Muheria coined the term “govertisement”—a fusion of “government” and “advertisement”—to criticize the government’s focus on self-promotion rather than tangible results.
“The government seems more focused on advertising itself than delivering results. Government is not an advertising agency. It should be about actions, not announcements. Let’s move from ‘govertisement’ to real governance,” said Muheria.
His remarks come amid rising frustration over Kenya Kwanza’s frequent project launches, policy pronouncements, and publicized promises, with little visible impact on the economy or public welfare.
‘Stop Telling Us—Just Do It’
Muheria emphasized that real leadership requires action, not endless declarations. He urged the government to focus on key sectors such as education, healthcare, and economic stability, warning that PR stunts alone won’t uplift struggling Kenyans.
“Stop telling us what you plan to do—just do it. We have capable leaders, resources, and experts. What we need is actual delivery, especially for the poor,” he asserted.
The Archbishop further called out political leaders for their divisive rhetoric, urging them to embrace constructive dialogue and national unity rather than trading insults in public forums.
“Instead of insults and political bickering, let’s build together. There’s nothing Kenya cannot achieve if we prioritize real governance over mere showmanship.”
Growing Demand for Accountability
Muheria’s remarks add to the growing chorus of voices demanding accountability from Ruto’s administration. Critics argue that Kenya Kwanza has spent more time on PR campaigns than solving pressing issues like the high cost of living, unemployment, and economic decline.
With his bold statement, Archbishop Muheria has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging Ruto’s government to shift from headline-grabbing stunts to real, impactful governance.
