- Ruto emphasized the importance of traditional values and lauded Kenya-U.S. cooperation.
Speaking at a church service in Nairobi on Sunday, President William Ruto expressed approval of the recent policy changes in the United States under President Donald Trump. Ruto commended the U.S. for embracing policies that align with Kenya’s religious, cultural, and traditional beliefs.
“As a leading democracy, we have come to understand that the policy direction of the United States supports what we believe in: that boys must remain boys, men must remain men, women must remain women, and girls must remain girls,” Ruto said.
Ruto highlighted that these developments reflect teachings rooted in the Bible and traditions that Kenya upholds.
Upon his return to office, Trump repealed various executive orders advancing LGBTQ+ rights, replacing them with policies that recognize only two genders. These changes also eliminated government diversity initiatives. During his campaign, Trump was a vocal critic of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies, which he claimed discriminated against white men.
Strengthening Kenya-U.S. Ties
In his speech, Ruto also underscored the strong partnership between Kenya and the United States, highlighting cooperation in numerous areas. “The USA is a blessing to our nation, and we work together in many aspects,” he said.
Ruto’s comments reflect his administration’s emphasis on traditional values and its alignment with global partners sharing similar perspectives.
President Ruto’s remarks signal Kenya’s endorsement of conservative global policies, highlighting the shared values between his administration and the U.S. under Trump’s leadership. This alignment may further strengthen the ties between the two nations in areas beyond culture and policy.
