KCSE Results Announcement

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has confirmed that the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results will be released in the second week of January 2025. The announcement was made during a cultural event for the Abagusii community held at Kenyoro Mixed Secondary School in North Mugirango.

Ogamba assured the public that the results would follow the traditional release process, maintaining transparency and timeliness for students and their families.

Preparations for Grade 9 Transition

The CS emphasized the ministry’s readiness to facilitate a smooth transition for Grade 9 learners. Efforts are being made to ensure that classrooms and other learning facilities are fully equipped and operational for the new academic year.

University Lecturers’ Strike

Ogamba refrained from commenting on the ongoing university lecturers’ strike, stating that he is still gathering details regarding the National Treasury’s implementation of agreed-upon salary increments. The strike threat has raised concerns over disruptions to higher education as lecturers voice their frustrations over delayed payments.

University Funding Model

On the contentious issue of the new university funding model, CS Ogamba acknowledged the recent High Court ruling declaring the model unconstitutional. He revealed the ministry’s intention to appeal the decision while simultaneously exploring alternative strategies to ensure students receive adequate funding during the legal proceedings.

With the KCSE results announcement on the horizon and preparations underway for academic transitions, the Ministry of Education is grappling with pressing challenges in higher education. The ministry’s next steps in addressing the lecturers’ strike and university funding will be pivotal in shaping Kenya’s education sector in the coming months.
