  • General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s first son and Chief of Defence, has exited X (formerly Twitter).
  • His decision ends a decade of outspoken and often controversial posts.
  • Citing a divine calling, he plans to focus on his duties within the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
  • In his farewell, he thanked followers and urged continued support for Uganda, Africa, and his father, President Museveni.

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, a prominent figure in Uganda and son of President Yoweri Museveni, has officially announced his departure from X (formerly Twitter). His exit marks the end of a decade-long, highly visible, and often polarizing presence on the platform.

A Decade of Impactful Tweets

Since joining X in 2014, General Kainerugaba has used the platform to share his views on politics, regional security, and personal beliefs. While his candid posts often sparked lively debates and garnered a loyal following, they also drew criticism and, at times, official responses from the Ugandan government to clarify or distance itself from his statements.

In his farewell post, the General reflected on his journey, writing:

“It has been a great and rousing journey together for the last ten years, since 2014. However, the time has come, under the instructions and blessings of my Lord Jesus Christ, to leave and concentrate on His army, the UPDF.”

 A Focus on Higher Calling

General Kainerugaba revealed that his decision to leave the platform was inspired by a higher calling. He plans to focus on fulfilling God’s assignment through his work in the UPDF, aiming to restore peace and security in the region.

He assured followers of a possible return, stating:

“At an appropriate time in the future, after fulfilling God’s assignment to restore everlasting peace and security to His people in our region, we shall reconvene.”

Message to Supporters

In his closing message, the General expressed love for his followers and urged them to continue supporting Uganda, Africa, and President Museveni.

“I love you all so much, and in whatever you do, continue to support Uganda, Africa, and our President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Farewell, and God bless you all.”

General Kainerugaba’s departure from X marks the end of an era in Ugandan digital discourse. His bold presence on the platform will be remembered for igniting discussions and offering unfiltered insights into the views of one of the country’s most prominent figures. As he focuses on his military role, his followers will keenly await the fulfillment of his vision for peace and security in the region.
