  • Susan Kaittany, businesswoman and former reality TV star, owes KSh40,500 to podcast producer Steve Mutua.
  • The debt is for services related to her podcast, Dangerously Honest, produced at the Dusit Princess Hotel in Westlands.
  • Mutua claims Kaittany avoided paying and made excuses when asked for the money.
  • After seeking legal action, the court ruled in Mutua’s favor, but Kaittany did not pay.
  • Auctioneers have now been authorized to seize assets from her beauty salon, Posh Palace, to recover the debt.

Susan Kaittany, a popular Kenyan businesswoman and former reality TV star, is now facing the auction of her upscale beauty salon, Posh Palace. This comes after she failed to pay a debt of KSh40,500 owed to podcast producer Steve Mutua. The debt arose from services provided by Mutua for her Dangerously Honest podcast.

The issue began when Mutua invoiced Kaittany in July 2023 for the services he provided to produce the podcast. However, he claims that Kaittany avoided paying him, offering excuses he felt were dishonest. After she allegedly told him to find other ways to recover the debt, Mutua took the matter to Milimani Small Claims Court.

The court ruled in Mutua’s favor in August 2024, but Kaittany failed to respond or attend the court session. By November 2024, the court authorized the seizure of assets from her salon in Kilimani to recover KSh61,984, which includes the debt and interest.

Among the items set to be auctioned are hair dryers, steamers, salon seats, and various other equipment. In addition, Kaittany will need to pay an auctioneer’s fee of KSh38,600.

This case serves as a reminder of the importance of resolving financial disputes and adhering to court judgments. Susan Kaittany’s failure to pay her debt has led to serious consequences, including the auction of her assets, highlighting the risks of not fulfilling financial obligations.
