  • The U.S. government has accused Gautam Adani and his company of fraud and corruption.
  • Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi says the Kenyan deal with Adani will continue.
  • Wandayi assured Kenyans that Adani’s power projects would succeed and asked them not to worry.
  • Many Kenyans remain concerned about Adani’s trustworthiness and the government’s support.

Wandayi Stands by Adani

Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has defended Gautam Adani and his company after they were accused of fraud by U.S. authorities. He said the government’s deal with Adani, especially through the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO), will not be affected by the claims.

“Adani is a good company, and the deal with our government will go on as planned,” Wandayi said. He added that Kenyans will soon see results from Adani’s work in improving power transmission in the country.

Public Concerns Grow

These accusations have made many Kenyans doubt Adani even more. Some had already questioned if the company could be trusted, but top leaders like President William Ruto and Raila Odinga had earlier defended their partnership with Adani.

Wandayi dismissed these concerns, saying, “Anything the government signs with Adani is good for the country.” However, his support for Adani has raised eyebrows, as some feel he is protecting deals that might not benefit Kenyans.

Wandayi’s defense of Adani has not calmed public fears. Many people worry that Kenya’s ties with Adani might bring problems, especially since the company is now facing serious accusations in the U.S.

As this issue continues, the government is under pressure to explain why it is standing by Adani and to prove that Kenya will benefit from the deals. Whether Adani’s projects will deliver as promised is something Kenyans are now watching closely.
