The National Secretary General of the Kenyan Workers’ Party, Francis Atwoli, has advised Mumias East MP Peter Salasya to work closely with experienced political leaders from the Western region. Atwoli emphasized that such alliances would ensure Salasya’s political stability when the veteran leaders eventually leave the scene.

In a phone interview shared on Salasya’s Instagram, Atwoli praised the MP’s popularity among the youth but insisted that guidance from seasoned politicians is vital. He encouraged Salasya to build ties with leaders like former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and Raila Odinga.

Atwoli advised.

Atwoli also warned that he would withdraw his support if Salasya ignored his advice. According to him, political mentorship is crucial for the MP to establish himself as a future leader.

Salasya, however, has been vocal against Raila Odinga, blaming him for supporting the abolition of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). The MP defended the CDF, highlighting its importance in bringing development closer to the people in his constituency.

Atwoli’s advice underscores the importance of alliances and mentorship in Kenyan politics. Whether Salasya heeds this counsel or continues to chart his path remains to be seen, but his stance on the CDF issue shows his focus on addressing grassroots concerns.
