- Former Harambee Stars and AFC Leopards striker Boniface Ambani has addressed his abrupt dismissal from Mara Sugar FC.
- The FKFPL club announced his exit without explanation, sparking speculation.
- Ambani cited internal conflicts and accused “quacks” of trying to control the club’s operations.
Boniface Ambani, former Harambee Stars, and AFC Leopards striker, has broken his silence following his unexpected dismissal as Technical Director of Mara Sugar FC. The FKF Premier League newcomer announced his departure last Friday via social media, offering no reasons for the decision.
In their announcement, Mara Sugar FC stated:
“We hereby announce the end of engagement with our Technical Director Boniface Ambani. We thank him for his services and wish him success as he exits Mara Sugar FC for another challenge.”
Three days later, Ambani took to his social media platforms to share his side of the story, describing it as “Episode One” of his Mara Sugar journey.
Ambani’s statement highlighted internal strife within the club. He accused unnamed individuals, whom he referred to as “quacks,” of attempting to take over club operations, which led to his decision to leave.
“Football has to be run by football people. Not quacks. When quacks want to take over, the best thing is to tell them to their face and pack and go. No two ways out,” he wrote.
In a seven-minute video shared online, Ambani recounted how he joined Mara Sugar FC and his reaction to the dismissal.
“I called my wife, and she told me I was trending. I asked her why, and she said Mara Sugar had parted ways with me. I laughed because I saw it coming,” he explained.
Ambani’s remarks shed light on internal challenges at Mara Sugar FC. As the club navigates its first FKF Premier League season, his candid revelations have sparked discussions about football management in Kenya. Ambani remains optimistic about his future endeavors in the sport.
