AFC Leopards recorded their fourth defeat of the season after going 2-1 down against on form Shabana FC.The match was played in a soaked Gusii stadium earlier today.

The game was halted on the 89th minute but resumed an hour later due to the heavy downpour. With 89 minutes on the clock, the center referee, in consultation with the two team captains, directed both sides to the dressing rooms as the field, now without one of the team benches that had been flattened by the wind, looked flooded.

At the stoppage time, AFC Leopards were trailing 2-1, a score that soon became final after play resumed an hour later.

After a series of saves from visiting goalie Humphrey Katasi, Shabana broke the deadlock shortly after the half-hour mark when Brian Michira headed in a lovely cross from Matthew Tegisi, triggering wild celebrations from the bench and the home fans.

Michira scored his second goal in the 37th minute, this time knocking in a cross from Justine Omwando after the latter had slipped past a leaping Vincent Mahiga and slid his ball past a napping backline.

An error from Shabana skipper George Onyango handed Leopards a lifeline in the 43rd minute when Boniface Munyendo took advantage of his miscalculated pass to sneak his effort past the impressive Stephen Ochieng.

AFC Leopards are now five games without a win, while Shabana is on a three-game winning streak thanks to Peter Okidi.

Elsewhere at Kenyatta Stadium,Machakos Gor Mahia, the incumbent FKF Premier League winners, won 2-0 over ten-man Kakamega Homeboyz snapping their four-match winless streak.

After enduring a difficult period under former head coach Martins Neiva, K’Ogalo, under interim Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, appeared to be a more respectable outfit following the fortuitous international break, starting on a high before deploying their heavy bench to defeat their opponents in the dying minutes.

At Dandora Stadium, Tusker scored the fastest goal this season enroute to a 2-1 victory over second-placed Mara Sugar.

The Brewers took the lead seconds after kickoff, when Shaphan Siwa capped off a fine team move that had no Mara Sugar player touch the ball.

It all came from a passing sequence involving George Kaddu – who took the kickoff – to Eric Balecho, James Kibande and Ryan Ogam, before falling kindly to Siwa to grab the opener.

Elsewhere at St. Sebastian Park, bottom-placed Posta Rangers secured their second win of the season after coming back from behind to emerge 3-1 winners over Bidco United.

Athony Akhulia’s side took the lead after five minutes through Clinton Asiaga but Posta found the equalizer in the half-hour mark following a strike from Lewis Shivachi.

Shivachi made it two for himself and for Posta four minutes after the break when he pounced on a Bidco defensive error to score past Daniel Odiwuor.

The final goal came from yet another Bidco error, this time Shami Kibwana taking the initiative to pull back his side to within a point off safety.

At Ukunda showground in Kwale, the dockers,Bandari FC emerged with a 2-0 win against Kariobangi Sharks.
