Jackson Ngechu, better known as CMB Prezzo, recently shared insights into the challenges he has faced throughout his career. Now 44, the rapper opened up about how fame introduced him to various distractions, including drugs and personal struggles.
Prezzo revealed that his rise to fame in 2004 brought with it temptations, including drug use and relationships that later caused turmoil. He acknowledged using marijuana and cocaine but credited his strong will for keeping him out of rehab. “I’ve done drugs before, but one thing I thank my God for is that I’ve never been to a rehab center,” Prezzo stated. He maintained that he was able to balance his responsibilities even during his participation in “Big Brother Africa” in 2012.
His personal life also took a hit, particularly after his marriage to Daisy Kiplagat ended in 2012. The marriage, which cost him Ksh 4.5 million, fell apart due to accusations of violence, infidelity, and drug use. This contributed to a period of depression, highlighting the heavy toll fame had taken on his relationships.
Prezzo also recounted several life-threatening experiences, including being shot in the head, a drug overdose that landed him in the ICU, and a stabbing while studying in Canada. Reflecting on these events, he believes that he has been given multiple chances for a reason. “When I sit back and ask myself why is God giving me all these opportunities, I believe that God put me here for a reason,” Prezzo shared.
CMB Prezzo’s journey through fame, addiction, and personal challenges has been marked by resilience. Despite the struggles, he remains determined to keep moving forward, believing that he has a purpose to fulfill.
