- Willy Paul and Bahati, both former gospel artists, have faced criticism for moving away from gospel music while maintaining they are still religious.
In a heated video posted on Instagram, popular artist Stevo Simple Boy publicly called out fellow musicians Willy Paul and Bahati, predicting that their paths are leading them straight to hell. Stevo criticized both artists for their move from gospel music to secular genres, calling their actions deceptive and their religious claims false.
Stevo began his rant by aiming at Willy Paul, questioning his song “Mbinguni Hakuna degree.”
Stevo asked how Willy Paul could confidently make such a claim, suggesting it was a lie since Pozee had never been to heaven. “Willy Paul ulisema mbinguni hakuna digrii, wewe ulienda mbinguni ukapata hakuna digrii? Wacha uongo. Wewe unaenda jehanamu,” Stevo said in the video, making his point clear.
The criticism didn’t end there. Stevo also directed his frustrations at Bahati Kioko, who, like Willy Paul, transitioned from gospel to secular music. Stevo expressed disappointment in Bahati’s pride, comparing his current demeanor to the humble artist he once was.
“Bahati, ulikuwa mtoto wa baba, sasa hivi umekuwa mtoto wa mama. Na kitambo ulikuwa unalia lia. Siku hivi umekuwa mjeuri,” Stevo remarked, pointing out the drastic change in Bahati’s character.
Both Willy Paul and Bahati have been targets of criticism since leaving the gospel scene nearly seven years ago. Despite their switch to secular music, the two artists have consistently denied abandoning their faith, insisting that they remain religious. In a previous interview, Willy Paul emphasized that his life in the gospel industry was full of negativity and rivalries, leading him to pursue secular music. However, he also insisted that his relationship with God remains intact, revealing that he prays before every performance as a sign of his ongoing faith.
Stevo Simple Boy’s blunt remarks have reignited the debate over the paths Willy Paul and Bahati have chosen in their music careers. As both artists continue to defend their faith despite moving away from gospel music, Stevo’s comments are sure to spark further discussion about authenticity and loyalty in the entertainment industry.
