  • Lawyer Dr. John Khaminwa, who lost his wife Joyce Khaminwa in May after 48 years of marriage, has ruled out remarrying.
  • Despite speculation, Khaminwa, now a widower with four children, said he doesn’t need a wife and is focused on his legal career.
  • Khaminwa emphasized that his priority is addressing pressing legal issues in Kenya and East Africa.

Dr. John Khaminwa, a senior counsel known for his significant contributions to Kenya’s legal field, has clarified that he has no intention of remarrying following the passing of his wife, Joyce Khaminwa, earlier this year. After 48 years of marriage, Joyce’s death in May left Khaminwa a widower with four children.

Speaking to the media, Khaminwa addressed the widespread expectation that, due to his age and current life circumstances, he might remarry to have someone help with domestic duties and provide companionship. However, the veteran lawyer has firmly ruled out this possibility. He stated that he does not see the need for another wife and that it is no longer a priority for him.

“Getting married is not a priority to me at 88 years old,” said Khaminwa.

Instead, Khaminwa has turned his focus to his legal career, stressing that Kenya and the broader East African region are facing significant legal challenges that require his expertise. As a senior counsel, Khaminwa remains committed to protecting the constitution of Kenya, which he views as more pressing than personal matters.

Khaminwa’s decision reflects his deep dedication to his work, even in the face of personal loss. He affirmed that his focus now is on contributing to the country’s legal landscape rather than entering into another marriage.

At this stage of his life, Dr. Khaminwa’s priority lies in his career and addressing legal challenges in Kenya and beyond. His statement makes it clear that his commitment to justice and constitutional matters outweighs any desire to remarry following his wife’s death.
