Halal Ali Warsame, a khat (miraa) seller, appeared before the Makadara Law Courts on charges of grievous harm following an altercation with Abdilulahi Abdi Mohamed in Eastleigh on October 2.
The incident reportedly unfolded at a khat-chewing den in Kamukunji Sub-County when Abdi, a Nairobi-based driver, suggested that Warsame pull up his trousers, which were slipping down. Warsame, angered by the remark, initially told Abdi to mind his own business. When Abdi continued to insist, the situation escalated, resulting in Warsame allegedly striking Abdi in the mouth and knocking out several of his upper teeth.
Bystanders at the scene intervened and rushed Abdi to the hospital, where he received treatment before being discharged. Warsame was arrested shortly after the incident but has since denied the charges in court.
Warsame was released on a bond of Ksh 100,000, with the court scheduling the hearing for May 28 next year, where the case will be further deliberated.
