In a bold act of online protest, Kenyans disrupted a High Court Zoom session where judges were delivering a ruling concerning Adani’s proposed takeover of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The disruption forced the judges to suspend the session as protestors chanted slogans opposing the deal.

A significant number of Kenyan citizens joined the online session, expressing their dissatisfaction by chanting “Adani Must Go.” The judges, unable to maintain order, had no choice but to suspend the court proceedings. The session, initially set to rule on the controversial takeover, was postponed with the judges promising to deliver the verdict next week.

The protesters were adamant that they would return to interrupt future sessions, emphasizing their demand for justice to be served in their favor. This isn’t the first time Kenyans have disrupted court sessions, particularly when they feel the proceedings favor government decisions or major corporate deals.

Interestingly, this disruption occurred during a session originally focused on social health insurance, but the hearing was once again postponed due to the uproar.

Kenyans continue to utilize online platforms to voice their opposition to government-linked decisions, such as the potential handover of JKIA to Adani. The court is expected to reschedule the ruling, but citizens have vowed to maintain their digital protest until their concerns are addressed.
