Morara Kebaso
, a civic education activist and leader of the INJECT party, has sparked mixed reactions on the X platform (formerly Twitter) after requesting donations to purchase computers and printers. This comes after Kebaso’s previous announcement about launching a laundry business branded with his political party’s logo.

Kebaso took to X to clarify the purpose of his request, explaining that his office needs computers and printers to support civil works. He emphasized that these resources would be used by a volunteer legal team helping to present cases in court to assist Kenyans. In his plea, he shared a Mpesa number, seeking public donations to fund the purchase of three computers and two large printers.

When questioned about his frequent donation appeals, Kebaso defended his approach. He argued that it is his responsibility as a leader to find creative ways to secure resources for public service.

“I have to find creative ways to increase resources. As a leader, it is my job to think about how the change we want can be achieved. So I ask you to cooperate with me in that,” Kebaso stated.

Kebaso assured his followers that every donation is accounted for, noting that he regularly provides updates on how the funds are used. He emphasized that he is entirely funded by donations from Kenyans, most of whom he has never met.

“I am funded 100 percent by Kenyans in Mpesa. Most of them I have never met. But I cannot ask them for donations every day because at some point they will be tired,” he added.

This latest appeal follows a previous request Kebaso made for donations to enhance his security. The request came after he was attacked by youths during a public meeting at the Bomas of Kenya, where the discussion centered on the possible impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. A video circulating online showed Kebaso fleeing the hall as chairs were thrown in his direction.

Kebaso’s frequent calls for public donations have sparked a mix of support and criticism. However, he remains steadfast in his belief that these contributions are essential for carrying out his civic responsibilities and supporting the public interest.
