The body of Yussuf Hussein Ahmed, the missing Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Della Anole Ward in Wajir County, was found in the Lake Yahud area. His discovery comes over a month after his abduction on September 13, leaving the local community and his family in shock and grief.

His family identified Yussuf Hussein Ahmed’s body at a local mortuary, where they confirmed that his body had been severely mutilated. Eyewitnesses reported signs of intense torture, brutal beatings, and severe burns on the body. There were also disturbing reports that his eyes had been gouged out, further heightening the horror of his death. The police have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but investigations into the circumstances surrounding his kidnapping and killing are ongoing.

Ahmed had been missing since his abduction last month, and despite efforts to locate him, his body was only recently found in a severely decomposed state. Locals flocked to the mortuary to pay their respects and mourn the loss of the MCA, expressing their grief in person and on social media.

Meanwhile, the High Court had earlier intervened in the case by ordering the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to protect a key witness in the abduction case. The court was also informed that investigators had been struggling to retrieve CCTV footage from the area where Ahmed was last seen. Superintendent of Police Justus Imaana, who is leading the investigation, reported that while some CCTV images had been obtained, further footage from the suspected kidnapping route was still needed.

Imaana also noted that a request for additional information from the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) had been rejected, hindering the progress of the investigation. The court expects an updated investigation status report on October 7.

The tragic death of Wajir MCA Yussuf Hussein Ahmed has left the local community in mourning, while the investigation into his kidnapping and murder continues. As the authorities work to uncover the perpetrators behind this brutal act, the court’s demand for a new investigation status report and witness protection for key individuals will play a crucial role in seeking justice for the slain MCA.
