Joseph Wambua Mwanza, the coach of Ulinzi Starlets, a military-owned club that competes in the country’s women’s first division, has died.
The death of coach Wambua has been reported on the Facebook page of the Ulinzi Stars club, a military club for men.
Mwanza, also known as ‘Coach Klopp’, died after a long battle with illness.
The Ulinzi Stars club has recognized coach Joseph Wambua as a coach who was more than just a leader on the field, developing football talents not just for the Ulinzi Starlets family but also for the broader football community in the country.
During his training with the Ulinzi Starlets team, he won the FKF Women’s Cup three times in a row.
Mwanza won the third FKF Women’s Cup in July, defeating Kibera Soccer Ladies 2–1.
Football stakeholders from the country’s women’s league management and football players have expressed their sorrow.
