Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has warned Gen Z youths about the consequences of supporting the High Court’s recent opinion to declare the National State and Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) Act of 2015 unlawful and against the constitution.

Salasya stated on his Instagram profile on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, that he is willing to join the government side if Gen Zs keep pushing for the suspension of NG-CDF activities.

According to the MP, young people are pushing for the removal of NG-CDF from MPs’ hands, and if they do not reject his removal, he will respond by removing his support for them.

“The people of Mumias East have rejected the stupidity, and this is my viewpoint as their leader. Those who are not well educated can see the impacts of NG-CDF, but there are a few who are envious, scholars who cannot pay ksh1,000 to the school because their parents cannot see the need to build bathrooms or old classrooms,” he remarked.

“If Gen Z’s position is to support the removal, I will withdraw my support and join the government side. Even if the Kenya Kwanza government has failed to deliver on its promises, there is little hope for our people through development.” He added.

The MP’s comments come after a rally in Mumias East against the court’s ruling, during which citizens highlighted the progressive initiatives facilitated by the NG-CDF.
