- The police force has also complained about firearm delays when dealing with deadly gangs.
Kenyan police officers working to restore peace and order in Haiti have complained about many challenges they are encountering during their operations there.
President William Ruto had a joint meeting with the police to understand the issues that officers face during their operations better.
One officer stated that they are facing numerous challenges at work, including a delay in receiving the firearms required to combat the violent gangs in Haiti.
The officer, Otieno, stated that the weapons they call for to fight gangs are usually late in arriving every time they are needed.
Otieno urged the government and relevant agencies to address the issue as soon as possible so that the people of Haiti can receive emergency support at an appropriate time.
Similarly, the officers asked for the information on the pay they were promised to be made public, so that they may understand how the compensation is divided.
In response, President Ruto stated that Kenyan police in Haiti already have health insurance through the national police service. However, he promised to provide compensation information through familiar channels.
Another officer expressed concern that some important supplies, such as military resources, remained in Kenya despite their significance to the operations.
Furthermore, President Ruto thanked Kenyan forces for gathering intelligence that the major stronghold of the gangs, led by Barbeque, had surrendered.
