Police and DCI officers in Busia County are seeking drug traffickers who evaded security guard traps on Thursday.

The suspects fled, leaving cannabis worth around 1.8 million shillings on the side of the road.

The seized marijuana was coiled in 1,800 coils measuring 45 centimeters long.

According to the DCI statement, the traffickers were riding motorcycles along Butula Road towards Matungu. When they unloaded the unlawful cargo, they changed routes and drove down Benga University Road.

Twists of marijuana had been hidden inside second-hand clothing.

About a week ago, police detained two traffickers, including a 17-year-old minor, on the Nambale-Busia route while trafficking 44 kilograms of marijuana worth 1.32 million shillings.

On June 6, this year, Busia police discovered seven sacks containing 451 kg of cannabis worth 13 million shillings.
