Safaricom breaks silence following rumors of giving 'Nairobi birdman' a job

Summary

  • “Stop joking, he was in the Safaricom store to replace the line and not to sign an advertising contract,” Safaricom claimed.

Safaricom has broken its silence following social media rumours that it has contracted Rodger Magudha, a young man who roams the streets of Nairobi with his hawk.

This rumour began on Monday when the young man known as the Nairobi birdman was spotted talking to a waitstaff in one of Nairobi’s Safaricom stores while holding his three birds.

Some members of the X forum spread rumours that the young man went to the store deliberately to sign a commercial advertising deal with the country’s largest telecommunications operator.

However, Safaricom responded to one of the X users who was spreading the rumours, saying that it was not true and explaining that the Nairobi birdman just went like any other customer for service regarding his phone line.

On the other hand, Safaricom responded to one of the X users who was circulating the stories, stating that it was false and that the Nairobi birdman simply went to replace his phone line like any other client.

“Stop joking, he was at the Safaricom store to replace the line and not to sign an advertising contract,” Safaricom insisted.
