Kenyans Timothy Cheruiyot, Brian Komen and Reynold Cheruiyot makes it men 1500 Meters semis

Kenya’s three athletes, Timothy Cheruiyot, Reynold Cheruiyot, and Brian Komen, advanced to the semifinals of the Paris Olympics 1500m on Friday noon after finishing in the top six of their individual heats at Stade de France.

African champion Komen finished in 3 minutes 36.31 seconds, following only the current world champion Josh Kerr of Great Britain, who won the first heat in a season-best time of 3 minutes 35.83 seconds.

Timothy Cheruiyot, a former world champion and silver medallist from the Tokyo Olympics, finished sixth in heat two with a time of 3:35.39. Ermias Girma of Ethiopia won with a time of 3:35.21.

In heat three, which also saw current Olympic winner Jakob Ingebrigtsen placing third in 3:37.04, former World U-20 champion Reynold Cheruiyot finished fourth in 3:37.12.With a time of 3:36.77, Stefan Nillessen from the Netherlands easily advanced to the semifinals.

The final of the men’s 1500 is set for Tuesday at 7:50 p.m. Kenyan time. The semifinals will take place on Sunday, August 4 at 8:10 p.m. Kenyan time.

Kenya is aiming for their first men’s 1500m gold medal since the Beijing Games in 2008.

On the other side,Kenyans Faith Kipyegon,Beatrice Chebet and Margret Chelimo will be on the pitch later today in the 5000 Meters as from 7.10 pm Kenyan Time.

Mary Moraa,Lillian Odira and Vivian Chebet will be taking part in women 800 meters at 8.25 pm Kenyan time.

However,Daniel Mateiko,Nicholas Kimeli and Bernard Kibet will finalize the day with the 10000 meters finals as from 10.20pm.
