The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga has instructed the Acting Inspector General of Police (IG) Douglas Kanja Kirocho to initiate an immediate investigation into the discovery of six decomposed bodies in a garbage dump in Mukuru kwa Ruben on Friday.

The six bodies, all female and in various stages of decomposition, were found in the Kware garbage dump which is reportedly a stone’s throw away from the Kware Police Station.

In his statement on Friday, the DPP gave Kirocho 21 days to submit a report on the situation, thus emphasizing the seriousness of the situation due to the location of the incident being close to the police station.

“The ODPP is very concerned with these reports that indicate serious violations of human rights considering that the said area is a few meters away from the police station,” Mulele said.

According to Article 154 (4) of the constitution, the DPP has instructed the Office of the Inspector General of the Police Force to conduct a detailed investigation and send the result file for review within 21 days.

“Civil organizations and anyone else with information that can help the investigative authorities in these cases are urged to cooperate with the government to help bring the perpetrators to justice,” said Ingonga.
