First Lady Rachel Ruto on Saturday finally broke her silence on the mutilated bodies discovered in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Nairobi.
Rachel Ruto in her statement said that the discovery of the bodies of many women was disturbing and sad.
She made the announcement shortly after reports that the total number of bodies found in the quarry had increased to 14 by Saturday evening.
“Each of these women was someone’s child, sister or friend and no one should be subjected to such cruelty. Violence against women must be stopped in our country,” he lamented.
The first lady sent her message of condolence and prayers to the families of the victims as the investigation continues to identify the perpetrators of the crime.
“No parent should have to bury their child, especially under such circumstances,” her condolence message read in part.
The First Lady’s statement came a few hours after President William Ruto promised that no stone would be left unturned in the hunt for the people responsible for the murder.
“Those who were involved in the death of those children at the Quarry should pay. They must be found and action taken against them,” Ruto spoke about the issue.
“Killing any Kenyan is against the constitution of Kenya. The process must be expedited and the truth found.”
The Head of State called on relevant investigative agencies including the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and Homicide to speed up the process.
