World record holder Faith Kipyegon is among the twelve Kenyan athletes who have arrived at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The two-time Olympic gold medallist and team captain touched down the French capital on Tuesday morning alongside other stars including 800m world champion Mary Moraa, Beatrice Chebet, Timothy Cheruiyot, Brian Komen, Lilian Odira, Bernard Kibet, Vivian Chebet, Reynold Cheruiyot, Margaret Chelimo, Daniel Mateiko and Nicholas Kimeli.
The athletics events which start tomorrow and ends on August 11, will be held at Stade de France.
Kenya’s middle distance coach Bernard Ouma who accompanied the team, said the athletes are more than ready to conquer the world again.
“The general preparations of the team has been well, NOC-K organised a structured technical details that ensured all athletes’ needs were sorted out. We are coming here with a lot of confidence. I know the competition is too high, but the preparation also has been perfect,” said Ouma.
“The spirit of the athletes in terms of motivation is well, and we are looking forward to starting the competition. Our main target is now to deliver medals for Kenya. Our preparations have been okay and the athletes are highly motivated, the coaches are also up to the task.
He continued: “The flight was smooth coming here considering it was a direct flight from Nairobi to Paris. The weather is equally perfect here in Paris. So, let the games begin.”
