On Wednesday 17th July, the Kenya Under 20 National Rugby Team, Chipu will face Hong Kong in the 2024 World Rugby U20 Trophy 7th place decider match at the Hive Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland.
This will be the second meeting between the two sides with the first being in July 2023 when Kenya Hosted the U20 Trophy. The two teams met on 25th July 2023 in the Pool matches with Kenya emerging victorious with a 22-16 score.
Leading up to this 7th place playoff match; Hong Kong China lost all their pool matches, on match day one they suffered a 20-105 loss to Japan, on match day two they lost 0-101 to hosts Scotland and finally on match day three they lost 19-39 to Samoa. Chipu on the other hand has lost 25-7, 51-3, and 17-30 to Uruguay, Netherlands, and the USA respectively.

However, Simon Jawichre has named the 23 man team taking the field tomorrow in the final World Rugby U20 Trophy match. There are two positional changes in the starting line up, Andycole Omolo moves from backrow to lock while Elvis Otete move from left side to right side wing. Nathan Tsindoli, Eugene Ojiambo and Daniel Kipchirchir have been promoted from the bench to the starting 15. Willy Tino who last appeared for Chipu on match day one makes a return and will be starting off the bench tomorrow while Dennis Ndayala who makes his first appearance for Chipu against Hong Kong China in this World Rugby U20 Trophy tournament, will start off the bench.
Additionally, Michael Wamalwa, Faran Juma, Clein Okumbi, Daniel Kiptoo and Alvin Khavoli miss out on this match due to various injury concerns.
The two will face off at 1:45pm EAT in the 7th place playoff .
