Butere Girls have emerged the ladies soccer champions in the 2024 western Region KSSSA games.This happens after defeating their rivals Archbishop Njenga in a final match staged at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma.
The Red commandos secured their victory with flawless penalty kicks, achieving a 4-2 win as the Njenga keeper failed to make any save.

In the regular 90 minutes,the two teams battled to the last minute.The game ended in a 2-2 draw.Diana Anyango opened the score board for Butere in the 16th minute.
Archbishop Njenga equalized the score on the 52nd minute through Hildah Natecho.In the 80th minute Joy Angela Valencia placed the red commandos ahead before Shirleen Nabengele equalising the score board board again on the last minute of the game.

Butere now advances to the national finals which will be held in Kisumu, aiming to defend their national title.
The two teams again met in the Kakamega County finals whereby Butere Girls emerged with a 1-0 win against Archbishop Njenga.
Additionally, The Red commandos entered into the finals unbeaten, having convincingly defeated Ibubi Secondary School 5-1, Chakol Girls 3-0, and Lukhuna 3-0 in the preliminary stage.
The reigning national champions then triumphed over Brenda Girls Secondary with a 2-0 victory in the first semi-final match at Bungoma Boys High School grounds on Friday.
In the second semi-final, Archbishop Njenga Girls High School edged out Ibubi 1-0 to secure their place in the final.
Archbishop Njenga Girls High School reached the semi-finals after a 2-0 victory over Brenda Girls in the quarter-finals.
In the group stage, the team registered straight wins against Kingandole (1-0), Madira Girls (3-0), and Brenda Girls (2-0).
