But his achievement is the result of a path of tenacity, overcoming poverty, and defying the odds.
Dr Kingori recently revealed his extraordinary tale as part of the Engage series, following his road from humble origins to becoming the host of Kenya’s longest-running TV show.
He revealed his mother’s ambition for him to become a doctor.
He talked about his mother’s desire for him to become a doctor and the difficulties they encountered as a family.
“My mother wanted me to be a doctor,” said Dr. Kingori. “She saw it as an opportunity for us to break free from poverty.” She realized there was a ceiling she couldn’t cross as a casual worker in two hospitals without an additional qualification.”
Growing up in poverty, Dr. Kingori experienced numerous challenges, which he overcome through creativity and persistence.

He recalled a day in primary school when he couldn’t afford new shoes and had to settle for his mother’s high-heeled boots.
“I remember when I was in grade seven, I almost went to school without shoes because my shoes were so worn out,” Dr. Kingori remarked, “but creativity was tested.” I walked to school in my mother’s shoes, which I still have. “They were high-heeled boots.”
“You see how people talk about, ‘Oh, it’s men who originally wore high heels in the 17th century!'” he said. “Don’t go back that far; I was wearing high heels in the mid-2000s.”
Dr. Kingori was offered an opportunity that seemed to be a stepping stone to his mother’s ambition after performing well in his primary school exams. He was accepted into Nguviu Boys High School, one of the province’s top three high schools.
“This was a significant accomplishment for my mother.” “We were one step closer to realizing her dream,” he explained. “The plan was for me to excel in high school, and then the government would take control and send me to medical school.”
But Dr. Kingori’s life had other plans. He chose a different path, which brought him into the world of media and entertainment.
